First Pool/Cook-Out

It's summer for sure, and already I am behind on posting.

Last Sunday we had a great afternoon at the Kiger's pool following one of many cook-outs. The kids just can't get enough of the it. Between their pool and Pappy & Grandma's pool and the beach, they might be part duck by September.

Here are some shots of the kids and Daddy in the pool and Jake, Sammy and Julie ready for dinner.

Last Day of Pre-School

I was really sad. I didn't expect to be. When I took Jake to pre-school for the last time yesterday, I thought UGH! My baby is going to Kindergarten next year!! How did that happen so fast? Before I know it, I'll be taking him to take his driver's test....geeze!
And already today he has asked me about sixty-five times about Kindergarten, when are we going, will "So & So" be there?...on and on. I said Jake if you are going to ask me that every day all day, it's going to be a loooong summer.

Here are some shots of him after school yesterday with some classmates, everyone got a squirt gun.

Columbus Trip

On Thursday, we picked Jake up from school and headed west to Columbus.(Jake was well over his virus and Julie was on the very tail end of it with a low fever.) They both slept the whole ride there, so I'm sure Jake will think we live five minutes from the water park. (We stayed at the Holiday Inn that has an indoor water park.) Once we got there, we ate at Bob's...of course. The Kiger's followed us and ate there as well. After checking in, we wasted no time and headed to the pool. The kids were so overwhelmed with so much water spraying here and there, they all had so much fun....so did us adults. I giggled down the slides like an 11 year old would of. hee hee

After over 2 hours in the water, it closed at 9 pm so we headed up to the room and hung out. It was the worse night sleep I have ever had in a hotel. First of all, I slept with Julie, Shane and Jake slept in the other queen. And she tossed and turned, hair in my face, she slept on my shoulders, ah, the worst. Then I noticed my night-lite I brought went out, so figured it was the bulb, I turned on the bathroom light for light, and it was out, then I heard fire truck sirens and saw lights. Hi panic!!? I thought oh crap!-- the hotel is on fire! So I start thinking, I can't jump off the third floor, what should I grab....(Shane and the kids completely snoring.) I wake him up to tell him whats going on and he opens the door and says I'm sure everything is fine the emergency lights are still on, no alarm, you are overreacting (yeah that never happens....hee hee) Seriously don't know how he went back to sleep....am I the only one that watches Dateline and saw the "Would you know what to do in your hotel fire?" APPARENTLY! I called the front desk to ask whats going on, and the man says, " Sorry for any inconveniences, the whole area loss power from the weather, they are trying to restore it." Oh, so maybe Shane was right, so finally fall asleep around 2 am, around 3:45 every light came on because I tested them all. Dole!

In the morning, everyone ate a little, got dressed and we headed out, but Sammy wasn't feeling well so they headed back to Wheeling, and we headed on to the Columbus Zoo. And originally we said it won't be packed the weather is cool, school is still in, we will be there on a Friday.....ah, not! We pull up and I swear there were 50 school buses, HI FIELD TRIPS! I seriously don't know how teachers had head counts and knew were everyone was, because kids were just every where, running around goofing off. But we saw just about every animal we could in 4 hours that we couldn't see at our zoo in Wheeling and the aquarium was awesome, the kids really liked it, but I think they giggled the most at the monkeys. All of the animals were out cause it was such a cool day, so we really got up close to all of them. And again, Jake and Julie slept the whole 2 hours home.
Then three days later, Shane and I both have strep throat. UGH! So I sent Julie up to my parents, I didn't want to be lifting her and being in her face. Jake can entertain himself and not having to carry him around, it was easier to just have one for now. I am better today, yesterday, we both went to the doctors, both got an antibiotic. I just got finished cleaning, I mean cleaning the whole house before my mom brings Julie back after having her a day and overnight. One can of Lysol, and I don't know how many loads of laundry, beds changed, everything scrubbed. Talk about OCD meets Germ-a-phob....I was a maniac! Shane still in the basement on the couch, hanging out with Chewy....lets just say he's a man and he is sick, you know....am I right ladies? haha

Mother's Day Weekend

The weekend started early for me, Thursday was a Mother's Day Tea Party at Jake's pre-school. They sang a few songs and we had a snack and punch. Friday we went to the co-op like every mother's day weekend and got our flowers for the yard....I will be planting for a week. Saturday, I spent a couple hours getting my hair cut and highlighted, then had lunch with Stace, then I headed up to the Highlands for some shopping. Little did I know the peace and quiet would end there. When I got home, Shane said after Jake's swim lesson he was sleeping on the couch, then he heard him screaming and basically exploded...he didn't make all the way into the bathroom, he vomited everywhere (and Shane was so impressed, he took a picture for me to see, but thanks, I won't be posting that one) and so he didn't stop throwing up all night, about 4 am Saturday night, and fevers up to 103.

So, I didn't get the best rest, he was up every hour and thats okay, Shane delivered coffee to me in bed while I slept in a little. I went to visit Grandma K. for a little bit, while Shane stayed with the kids, then I came home and he went to see his mom. I went up my parent's house, Jake was doing okay, temp down a little, and he had stopped vomiting....but still made him carry his bucket. Look at him, poor guy, he so was not wanting his picture taken, he said he was too sick to smile.

We had a nice visit, we had to stay inside all day, it never stopped raining, hard rain. I had made a peach pie for mom, all from scratch on Saturday, and it was worth the wait to eat :) yummy!

Soccer Mom

It was a success! Jake has been practicing passing and kicking the soccer ball with Daddy for weeks preparing for yesterday's big day. We decided to leave Julie at Grandma and Pappy's house for the first day, not fully trusting her not to run out on the field and play too....(if you seen the last blog of the concert, you'd understand why).

When we arrived, Jake was unsure, he was expecting to have his school mates also to be on his soccer team and didn't want to go out and practice, not knowing a soul. After a talk and convincing, his coach took him out to practice passing and kicking the ball around. And soon enough, he was all smiles and having a great time.

The two videos are Jake at practice, first with his coach, then practicing kicking into the goal.

Pre-K Concert

It started off really good, Julie sat in her chair between Shane and I and we waited for Jake's class to come out. As soon as they started singing, (Jake had his hand over his mouth, he didn't want anyone to see him sing....and I don't know who was more nervous, him or Mommy) Julie wanted to go up and stand by Jake. The next couple videos shows how it all went down.

AH! She is the loudest screamer ever!!!

So, from looking and listening to that, apparently, she wasn't happy. Okay, moved Julie from that space. Things seem to be okay, so I call Shane over to stand with her so I can go back over and film. He comes over and Jake breaks down and starts crying. He is scared of the big crowd to begin with, now he thinks we are leaving.
